The Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) are deepening their strategic partnership to advance sovereign digital infrastructure across Pakistan.
PDA hosted Maj. Gen. (R) Ali Farhan, Managing Director of NTC, for a follow-up meeting with Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairperson, PDA, and senior officials from both organizations.
Building on discussions held earlier this month, the two institutions reviewed progress on the national digital infrastructure initiatives at the core of Pakistan's digital government agenda: Government Directory Services under PMOS, Government Cloud, national AI capabilities and Digital Infrastructure Governance.
PDA and NTC agreed to advance the following areas of collaboration:
- Strengthening governance for Pakistan's critical digital infrastructure.
- Advancing government-wide Directory Services and e-Office implementation.
- Planning a resilient, three-site Sovereign Government Cloud architecture using OpenShift.
- Expanding national AI computing capacity through high-performance GPU infrastructure to support GovGPT, Smart HR, PMOS, and future AI-enabled government services.
- Enhancing institutional capacity through technical collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinating policy and regulatory recommendations on cybersecurity, digital trust, and sovereign digital governance.
Both organizations will jointly develop the governance frameworks, implementation roadmaps, and technical architectures to take this work to the upcoming National Digital Governance Forum.
Building Pakistan's Digital Public Infrastructure and its governance is a matter of national sovereignty. It requires institutions that keep showing up to review progress and resolve roadblocks. That is how sovereign digital infrastructure gets built: meeting by meeting, layer by layer, until the foundation is unshakeable.
