PDA and NTC explore collaboration on Pakistan's sovereign digital infrastructure

July 16, 2026 Islamabad

Digital sovereignty won’t be won with just policy statements. It is built one piece of core infrastructure at a time.

Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairperson, PDA, visited the Headquarters of the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) and met with Maj. Gen. (R) Ali Farhan, the Managing Director of NTC to explore strategic collaboration on some of Pakistan's most consequential digital infrastructure initiatives.

They discussed systems that will determine how secure and self-reliant Pakistan's government infrastructure becomes, across several of the following collaborative initiatives:

  1. A Government-wide Directory Service
  2. A secure Government Email Platform
  3. Sovereign Government Cloud Infrastructure, in alignment with the National Cloud Policy
  4. Secure identity management, Single Sign-On (SSO), resilient cloud hosting, and secure communication systems across government institutions
  5. Indigenous technology, secure government smartphones, AI-powered offline meeting transcription and summarisation, and sovereign AI infrastructure

These are the foundational layers a government needs for sovereign and interoperable national digital infrastructure. PDA and NTC closed the meeting with a shared commitment to accelerate collaboration and implementation on these initiatives.
