PDA Meets Fauji Group of Companies to Advance Pakistan’s Digital Transformation

Building Strategic Partnerships for Digital Public Infrastructure

Building a digital nation takes more than policy and new systems. It takes partners who can help you deliver at scale. That was the premise behind a recent meeting where Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairperson, PDA, and Mr. Aamer Rana, Member, PDA, met with Lt. Gen. Anwar Ali Hyder, HI(M) (Retd.), Chairman, Fauji Group of Companies and Managing Director & CEO, Fauji Foundation. They met to explore how the two sides might work together on Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda.

Dr. Sohail set out what PDA has taken on since it was established under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025. The Authority is writing the National Digital Masterplan and standing up the digital public infrastructure that citizen services will run on nationwide.

The talks covered a lot of ground, from Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Sovereign Cloud, Government Cloud (GovCloud), secure data centres, data governance, and sector-specific digital solutions. These are the pieces the country needs to run citizen services at scale, protect national data, and hold its own in an economy that increasingly runs on AI.

Fauji Group is one of Pakistan’s largest industrial groups, with businesses across energy, fertiliser, cement, and food. Both sides agreed to pursue public-private partnerships that strengthen digital innovation, data sovereignty, and secure digital infrastructure. A digital nation cannot be built by working in silos.

The meeting ended with an agreement to begin technical engagements and identify initiatives that align with the Digital Nation Pakistan Act and the National Digital Masterplan, as PDA builds partnerships with the Pakistani private industry to create a resilient and future-ready digital ecosystem for Pakistan.
