Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met Dr. Sohail Munir, Chairperson, Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA), to discuss digital transformation, digital finance and measures to improve the use of technology to widen access to finance and support economic activity.
The Finance Minister emphasised the importance of ensuring that existing frameworks evolve alongside advances in digital technology. Their discussion covered the need to improve access to finance through greater use of digital platforms and more efficient processes. The Finance Minister highlighted the importance of simplifying customer onboarding and improving the interoperability of financial data, including closer integration between banks and capital markets.
Discussion extended to strengthening digital infrastructure for more efficient delivery of public and financial services. Digital assets and tokenisation were also discussed, including potential applications in real estate and other investment assets.
The Finance Minister appreciated the work being undertaken by the Pakistan Digital Authority and stressed the importance of focusing on high-impact initiatives that facilitate access to finance and strengthen digital capabilities.
